Summer Day Camp 2020

June 8 - August 14, 2020
Monday - Friday, 7 am – 6 pm
Grades K - 8

Summer Day Camp Registration will open Monday, April 13 at 9 am.
You may register on-line, or in person weekdays at the
Jim Porter Recreation Center

Get ready for the best summer ever! The City’s Summer Day Camp program comes with plenty of adventure and fun times in a friendly and supervised environment. Spend the day with old friends, or make new ones as campers participate in fun games, learn new sports skills, and travel to exciting local destinations.

Our weekly rates are affordable and offer a great value with these extras at no additional cost: 

  • Extended Care from 7 am to 9 am, and 3 pm – 6 pm
  • One Camp t-shirt
  • At least one field trip each week
  • Lunch and snacks mornings and afternoons
  • Guest Speakers & Fun Friday Activities

The Camps

Explorers Camp

Explorers I Camp is a secure and boisterous place for kids to do things outside of the core school subjects. Campers will be kept very active and engaged with activities ranging from bottle cap tic-tac-toe, paper mache, even a field trip to an Alpaca Hacienda. Summer camp will make a lifetime of “I remember when!"

Explorers Camp 2

Explorers II offers kids in this age group the chance to really step out of their comfort zone and take some risks with their unique skills. Campers can be heard saying things like, “I’m in my element” and, “I’ve found my people." Creativity can’t be stifled in this camp whether making slime, trufflua trees, sledding, or  riding the fun bus to a field trip.

Adventure Camp

This camp is a true adventure with travels throughout San Diego County, in addition to Riverside and Orange Counties. Trips include an Alpaca Hacienda, Eco Vivarium, So Cal Railway Museum, the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, the Discovery Cube, several hikes and beach trips.

Sports Camp

Sports Camp is a great opportunity to explore new athletics like Bocce Ball, Karate, Pickleball, and Field Hockey, or boost your skills in Basketball, Tennis, Dodgeball and Soccer. This camp includes a variety of sports and recreational games and include strong emphasis on sportsmanship and playing with character.

Counselor-in-Training

A Counselor In Training assists Head Counselors, Counselors and the Recreation Coordinator. The position includes helping to lead games, songs, skits, and tell stories. Counselors In Training help with supervising campers in their group during recreation times, meal times, and assist with camp preparation, and clean-up. CIT’s provide support on various projects including but not limited to, preparing crafts, setting up games, maintaining paper goods in the restrooms, and overall clean-up.
