The area, known as Paseo Santa Fe, encompasses the S. Santa Fe Avenue corridor between Vista Village Drive and Civic Center Drive. The City's vision is to fill the area with retail/shops/restaurants topped with living spaces to revitalize the downtown area. The project is being constructed in three phases. Phase I was completed in 2016 and Phase II is under construction.
Phase III (.30 miles): This phase extends from Terrace Drive to Civic Center Drive. Work on undergrounding utilities and storm, water, and sewer improvements began in August, 2019. Street improvements include adding the final third roundabout, which will be located at Pala Vista Drive and the surface improvements such as landscaping, sidewalks, and lighting will be completed after Phase II is completed. Final construction of the Paseo Santa Fe Street Improvement Project is anticipated in late 2020.
The City will strive to minimize traffic impacts sometimes associated with construction. While the benefits are considerable, the City understands the construction may impact residents and businesses. We appreciate the public and local business owners' patience as we work to improve the downtown core.
The City created resources to assist businesses during the construction phases.
