City Approves New Legislative Platform

Each year, there are a number of issues before the State Legislature and U.S. Congress that impact the City of Vista. Annually, the City Council approves a legislative platform, which enables the City to respond in a timely manner to pending legislation and have the City's position considered during legislative hearings. The City Council approved the 2020 legislative platform on January 14, 2020.

State Housing Legislation Update

In an effort to address housing shortages, State lawmakers approved several housing-related bills created to increasing housing density.  City staff presented to the Vista City Council during its January 14 Council meeting, how the new laws will impact cities, including Vista.

Poll Workers Needed for March 3 Election

San Diego County Registrar’s Office is recruiting poll workers for the March 3 Presidential Primary Election. In the City of Vista, election signs are allowed 35 days prior to the election and are to be removed 5 days after the election.

The City of Vista is encouraging residents to take the San Diego Regional Alliance for Fair Housing survey. The City is interested to learn about resident's experience with housing discrimination issues and concerns in Vista.

Junior Deputy Program

The Vista Sheriff Department's Junior Deputy Academy is a 12 week character building program for youth between 10 and 16 years. The Academy is free and taught by Vista Sheriff deputies in collaboration with the City of Vista. The spring session is February 20 - May 7, 2020 and registration is available on a first-come, first served basis.

Culture Caravan Farmer's Insurance Open

Potential New Venture for AVO

During their City Council meeting on January 14, the Council approved an agreement with the City of Vista and JCG Development to evaluate a possible new venue for the AVO Playhouse.  The agreement provides the City up to 18 months to explore the feasibility of this proposal.
