Post Date:03/04/2019

Kevin Ham, Director for Economic Development, City of Vista has been awarded re-certification by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) effective 4/1/19. Kevin first achieved the Certified Economic Developer designation in 2006.  CEcD recertification, required every three years, was awarded to Kevin who met the demanding requirements for continuing education and service to the profession. With over 25 years of economic development experience, Kevin has been a key architect in the revitalization of Downtown Vista, the creation of the Vista Craft Brew Community, was instrumental in bringing new vehicle dealerships, several new hotels and the development of the regional economic development partnership known as Innovate78.

The designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is a highly recognized designation that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to professional growth. This designation is held by those with the extensive experience and knowledge in the field. There are approximately 1,100 who hold this designation and only 25 in California. Kevin first earned certification by passing a three-part, two-day examination, testing his knowledge, proficiency and judgment in the key areas of economic development.

As highly skilled economic development practitioners, Kevin and the others who hold this designation work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create and retain high-quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy, and improve quality of life for the people they serve.
