Holiday Watch in Place to Keep Residents Safe

Post Date:11/20/2018 11:19 AM

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has kicked off its annual Holiday Watch around the County to keep residents and visitors safe. The crime-fighting program includes the Vista Sheriff’s Station. Vista deputies are providing both education and enforcement to enhance public safety during the holiday season.

Under the Holiday Watch program, Vista residents can expect more patrols in North County Square, Vista Village, neighborhoods, and other areas. The Vista Sheriff's Department offers these safety tips for shoppers during the holidays:

  • Stay alert and be aware of what's going on around you.
  • Park in a well-lighted space, lock the car, close the windows, and hide shopping bags and gifts in the trunk.
  • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash; pay with a check or credit card whenever possible to deter pickpockets and purse-snatchers.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Sheriff’s Department by calling (858) 565-5200. To learn more about the Holiday Watch Program, contact the Vista Sheriff's non-emergency number at 760.940.4551 or visit www.sdsheriff.net.
