Fire Danger: Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag fire weather warning for San Diego County, running through Tuesday, October 16, due to the expected arrival of strong Santa Ana winds, low humidity and high temperatures. The Vista Fire Department encourages residents to be extra vigilant over the next few days.

Paving Begins Along E. Vista Way

The City will be slurry sealing along E. Vista Way from Civic Center Drive to Meadow Lake the week of October 15. The project will take two days. During the re-striping one week later, a third northbound lane will be striped to reduce traffic congestion.

Parents Night Out on 10/19

Recreation offers its Parents Night Out program on October 19. Parents can drop their kids off at the Jim Porter Recreation Center in Brengle Terrace Park from 5 pm - 9 pm where they will play games and participate in age-appropriate activities. Cost is just $10 per child for ages 5 - 11.

Drop Off Unused Prescription Drugs

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides a convenient and safe way to dispose of prescription drugs. Drop off unused prescriptions on Saturday, October 27, between 10 am 2 pm in the Walgreens parking lot on 310 Sycamore Avenue.

New All-Way Stop on Main Street

A new all-way stop will be installed on Main Street and S. Indiana Avenue due to the high traffic volume and the increase in pedestrians visiting downtown.  A stop sign currently exists for the northbound traffic on S. Indiana. Marked crosswalks will also be installed and will take place within the next six to eight weeks.

November Exercise Classes

The Gloria McClellan Center in Brengle Terrace Park has opened registration for its November exercise programs. A variety of programs for all abilities are offered for ages 50 and up.

Early Voting Begins for November 6 Election

Voters interested in casting their ballots early for the Nov. 6 Gubernatorial General Election can now do so at the County Registrar of Voters office, located at 5600 Overland Avenue on the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa.

New 20-Year Airport Master Plan

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a new 20-year master plan for McClellan-Palomar Airport stating it will enhance airport safety and make it possible for aircraft already flying in and out to fly farther.

Weekend Coastal Rail Closures

There is no weekend COASTER or Amtrak Service between Oceanside and San Diego for the weekend of Oct. 20-21. The closures are scheduled to provide time for construction and maintenance to be performed without interruption.
