Emergency Alert T Updated 

Wireless Emergency Alert System Test

FEMA has postponed the Nationwide Wireless Emergency Alert System Test due to response efforts around Hurricane Florence. The new date is now scheduled for Monday, October 3 at 11:15 AM local time

No reason to become alarmed. Your mobile phone will emit a special tone and vibrate as it receives an emergency test message on September 20. It is part of a nationwide test by the Federal Emergency Management Agency of Wireless Emergency Alerts systems to assess its effectiveness.

New Fire Ambulances 

Two New Ambulances In Service Soon

Two new ambulances will soon be in service in Vista. Both ambulances will be up fitted with radios and computers and are expected to be in service in October, 2018. The new ambulances demonstrate the City is committed to high priority service to the Vista community.

 Downtown Specific Plan

Amending the Downtown Specific Plan

The City Council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, September 25 at 5:30 PM in the Vista Civic Center to consider amending the City’s Downtown Specific Plan. The project would amend the mixed-use zoning and development standards in certain residential neighborhoods within the Downtown Specific Plan, and modify certain development standards that apply to the entire Specific Plan area. A map of the downtown specific plan area is available online.

Cat Adoption SDHS

National Meow Like a Pirate Day

The San Diego Human Society has over 200 adult cats available for adoption. To promote National Meow Like a Pirate Day on September 19, the Society is offering $5 adoption fees for all adult cats.

Free Movie at the Senior Center, Sept 21

The McClellan Senior Center is hosting the new movie release Finding Your Feet on Friday, September 21 at 1 PM. Enjoy the storyline of an upper-middle class snob living with her bohemian sister while being drawn into the world seniors' dance classes.  (Romance/Comedy PG-13.)  Movie and refreshments are free.

Downtown Businesses Invited to Gazebo Planning

The City is inviting downtown business and property owners to a meeting to discuss the future of the downtown gazebo located on the corner of Main Street and Indiana Avenue. The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 27 at 8 AM at the Vista Civic Center.

Scout Troup Beautifies Brengle Terrace Park

Girl Scout Troop #1072 will be painting benches near the basketball courts and horseshoe pits at Brengle Terrace Park on September 22. The benches are being painted with artwork promoting the protection of Vista's natural resources. Eco-friendly materials have been donated by local vendors. The troop’s efforts are assisting the City’s Parks Maintenance in providing clean and well-maintained parks for the community.
