Highway 78 Pilot to Optimize Speed

CALTRANS is testing a program to optimize speed on Hwy 78. Temporary advisory signs have been posted in seven locations on eastbound 78 from Vista Village Drive to Nordahl Road. The signs will advise motorists of the appropriate speeds to travel during peak periods to improve traffic flow.




Special Workshop on Marijuana

The City Council is holding a special workshop on Tuesday, March 20 at 2 pm in the Vista Civic Center to receive an overview of information and an update on local marijuana initiatives. The City Council will discuss options for permitting marijuana-related businesses and provide direction to staff.




Partial Closure of Downtown Lot

Due to a geographical survey being conducted, the northern border of the public parking lot on Michigan Avenue and Main Street will be closed on Wednesday, March 21 from 7 am – 5 pm. Downtown visitors are encouraged to use the new Citrus parking lot during the closure.  




Emerald Drive Corridor Community Workshop

A community workshop on the Emerald Drive corridor will be held Wednesday, March 21 at 6 pm in the Vista Civic Center. The Emerald Drive Corridor Study will provide guidance for the priorities and actions needed to improve traffic safety while balancing cars, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian connectivity.




Making Townsite and Los Angeles Drives More Walkable

On Thursday, March 22 at 6 pm, a Community Workshop will be held at the Vista Civic Center to present information on making Townsite and W. Los Angeles Drives a safer and more walkable neighborhood corridor. A Corridor Study will provide guidance for the priorities/actions needed to improve traffic safety and walkability throughout this corridor.




Help Plan the Future of Pala Vista Park

City staff is gathering input from the community regarding a new park planned for Vista during a second planned workshop on Saturday, March 24 at 2 pm, at the Vista Civic Center. The public is invited to provide their ideas on the future park to be located along Civic Center Drive and Pala Vista Drives.




San Diego Symphony at The Moonlight March 24

The San Diego Symphony presents "Rebels, Raiders, and Supermen: The Music of John Williams" at the Moonlight Amphitheatre on March 24. The Symphony's Associate Conductor, Sameer Patel, leads the concert saluting the Maestro of the Movies.




Bub Williamson Park Plans Presented

After gathering public input during several community workshops on the Bub Williamson Park improvements, City staff will present the conceptual park design to the Parks & Recreation Commission on Monday, March 26 at 6 pm in the Vista Civic Center.




San Diego County Registrar of Voters Hiring

The County Registrar of Voters is hiring seasonal/full time employees at $14.25 per hour to work this May and/or June. Head to the job fair Saturday, March 24, from 9 am to 4 pm at the County Operations Center, Public Hearing Chambers, 5520 Overland Avenue.



Cash in on Incentives for Driving Clean

SDG&E is offerings Electric Vehicle Climate Credit, which allows for drivers of all-electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids to apply to receive a credit on their SDG&E account for driving clean. Last year, those who applied received a $200 bill credit.
