E. Vista Way Safety Improvements Begin

The installation of a landscaped median on E. Vista Way from Civic Center Drive to Williamston Drive begins this week and is expected to last two months. This grant-funded safety project will greatly reduce, or altogether eliminate, left-turn vehicle collisions, as well as enhance the appearance along the corridor. The construction will allow for two lanes of traffic in each direction; however, the center turn lane will be closed.




Kudos for Keeping Vista Clean

Kudos to the Vista Clean Environment Adopt-a-Block group who provided over 855 volunteer hours cleaning up their neighborhood over the past year. The group took to their streets with trash bags and brooms to clean up their area streets. The community clean-up efforts are an annual neighborhood effort for the adopt-a-block group.



Pala Vista Park Conceptual Design for Review

City staff will present the draft conceptual design for the new Pala Vista park to the Parks and Recreation Commission on Monday, July 23 at 6 pm in the Vista Civic Center. The 3-acre city-owned property is located along Civic Center Drive and Pala Vista drives, just north of the Sprinter station and Highway 78. (Previously scheduled for June 25 and has been moved to the July meeting).  




Balanced Budget to be Presented

A balanced budget for the new fiscal year 2018/19 will be presented to the City Council on June 26 during its regularly scheduled meeting. The city's new budget plans for day-to-day operations, city-wide infrastructure projects, and services that run July 1 through June 30. Each year city staff recommends city expenditure plans based on available funding and City Council priorities.




City Council Approves Marijuana Initiatives

The City Council authorized the initiative ordinance for three medicinal cannabis delivery-only retailers and two testing laboratories during its June 12 City Council meeting. The measure and a marijuana business tax initiative will both be placed on the November, 2018 ballot.




Volunteer in Support of Vista Seniors

The Gloria McClellan Center is recruiting volunteers to support its programs geared to seniors in the Vista community. There are many ways to support Vista's elder population.




Shred Event Recycles 6,000 lbs

The “Free Shred & E-Waste Event held on June 9 at the Civic Center parking was a success for the community. Almost 500 Vista residents came to the event and over 6,000 pounds of paper was safety shredded. Kudo to Vista residents for recycling so much! EDCO Disposal, the City of Vista’s waste and recycling contractor was the main sponsor and the organizer of the event.
