The purpose of the City of Vista News Center is to share information and help residents stay connected to the latest updates on road and traffic projects, recreation for kids and family, senior activities, cultural arts happenings, and more news about the city.  



Pala Vista Drive Closure

Pala Vista Drive between S. Santa Fe Avenue and Mercantile Street will be closed for the next 2-3 weeks due to sewer line construction. In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, Guajome Street will be re-opened to traffic between S. Santa Fe and Mercantile Street. The City contractors will strive to minimize the traffic impacts associated with construction.




Workshop on Townsite & W. Los Angeles Dr. Corridor

On Wednesday, April 18 at 6 pm, a Community Workshop will be held to present proposed solutions on making Townsite Drive and W. Los Angeles Drive a safer and more walkable neighborhood corridor. The meeting will take place at the Vista Civic Center.



Parent's Night Out

Recreation is offering its Parent's Night Out event on Saturday, April 21. Parents can drop-off their kids at the Jim Porter Recreation Center from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Open to kids age five - 11. Kids will experience four-hours of non-stop fun and activities while parents can enjoy the night on their own.




Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Have unused prescription drugs in your cabinet? Drop them off at the Prescription Drug Take-Back event on Saturday, April 28, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Walgreen’s parking lot at 310 Sycamore Avenue. No questions asked.




Day Camp Registration is Underway

Registration for Recreation's Summer Day Camp program has started. The program runs from June 11 through August 10 and offers weekly camp themes and field trips.




Volunteer Openings for Youth

The City encourages students to get involved and make a difference in their community by applying to serve on one of the City’s Commissions. Students must be in grades 9 through 11 and submit a volunteer application by May 11.




Library Hosts Prom Dress Giveaway

The Vista Library is hosting a Prom Dress Give Away on Saturday, April 21 from 10 am to 3 pm. Hundreds of gently worn free prom dresses will be available for any student who needs one. Register at 760.643.5112, in person, or online.
