Street Maintenance Division

The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for over 180 miles of public roads, including pothole repairs, traffic striping, and traffic signage. This division oversees the contract for street sweeping.

New Street Name Signs Project

Commencing May 19, 2008, City Public Works crews will begin the first phase of a five phase, five year on-going project to change out the street name signs throughout the city. The new signs will be in accordance with new federal and state mandated standards which call for a more visible street name sign with larger/wider letters and the use of high reflectivity materials for visually impaired citizens and to assist safety personnel in finding street locations more easily in emergency situations.

New Public Street Name Signs

Citizens will see two different kinds of street name signs throughout the city. The blue and white blades which include the City's seal are the new designation for public streets.

The blue and white blades without the city seal continue to be the designation for private streets, but must conform to the new State and Federal standards.

The first four phases of the project will be focused on the main streets with the fifth and final phase focused on minor and residential streets. The first streets that will get the new signs will be: West Vista Way, Vista Village Drive, East Vista Way, West Bobier Drive and East Bobier Drive.

In addition to the new street name signs, part of phase one includes the overhead signs located on the traffic signal poles being changed to the new colors and standards as well. The first streets for the new overhead signs will include: Vista Village Drive, West Vista Way, East Vista Way, Bobier Drive, Hacienda Drive and Emerald Drive. There will be four phases of overhead signs being changed out during this project.
