Rancho Buena Vista Adobe

Visit the 163-year old Rancho Buena Vista Adobe for a fun and educational experience! Tours available Thursday through Friday, 10 am - 2:15 pm, and Saturday at 10:00 am only. The 45-minute tour includes a short video presentation. Cost is $3 for Vista residents or seniors, $4 for non-residents, $1 for students, and 50¢ for children. The La Tiendita Gift Shop is a fun stop for one-of-a-kind purchases, (760) 941-7639. And don't miss the art gallery.

The Adobe is located across the street from City Hall. Parking is available at the City Hall Complex, the Wildwood parking lot next to Fire Station No. 5, and along Alta Vista Drive.

September 1-25 | Plein Air Exhibit featuring the work of Mai Dashiell Bronson

Local artist Charles Bronson and his family present their private collection of Plein Air paintings by his mother Mai Dashiell Bronson, at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Gallery. The gallery is open to the public during visiting hours, Thursday-Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The artist reception is scheduled for Sunday, September 19 from 1-3 p.m. in conjunction with the Country Antique Road Show and Sale at the Adobe.

September 19 | Country Antique Road Show and Sale, 12:00-4:00 p.m.

Learn the history of your favorite antiques at the Friends of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe's Antique Roadshow. Items are $10 each for appraisals (limit 2). Antique collectibles will be available for purchase from local vendors. A light lunch will be available for purchase. At 2 p.m., visitors can enjoy a docent-led tour of the home. All proceeds benefit the Adobe for acquisitions and upkeep. For more information, please call (760) 941-7639.

October 1-30 | Stephany Travers and the Vista Adult Education Class

Local artists will display their work in the gallery. The gallery is open to the public during visiting hours, Thursday-Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

November & December | Pacific Quilt Artists

Enjoy beautiful hand-made quilts from the Pacific Quilt Artists. The show will be on display in the gallery from November 4 through December 31. The gallery is open to the public during visiting hours, Thursday-Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

December 5 | Holiday Home Tour

Don't miss the Rancho decorated for the holidays on the Vista Community Clinic's annual Holiday Home Tour.

Scout Programs

Adobe Days School Field Trips

Take your class back in time to early California. This two-hour program consists of two 40-minute "hands-on" activities and a tour of the historic Adobe house. Adobe Days is offered Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required. The cost is $8.00 per student. October Fall Festival - Preschool and Kindergarten Students

The Adobe's fall festival program is specially designed to delight preschool and kindergarten classes. It's a busy two-hours including: cookie baking, hands-on crafts activities and a special treat to take home. This program is offered week days during October. Reservations are required. The classes must have a minimum of 10 students. Call (760) 726-1340 ext. 1521 to make a reservation.

Adobe Gallery

The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Gallery features local and nationally known artists. Gallery hours coincide with the Rancho's regular hours and is included in the cost of admission.

 


Get Involved

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are always welcome at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe as tour guides, gift store clerks and special event organizers. If you love people and history, you will make a wonderful docent. On-going training is given to volunteer. Docent applications are accepted in the Adobe Gallery or call (760) 941-7639.

Become a Friend of the Rancho

Support the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe by joining the "Friends." Membership cost is $20 for individuals, $25 for a family, and $75 for businesses/organizations. Life memberships are $200.
