Alta Vista Gardens
In conjunction with the City of Vista, Alta Vista Gardens is creating a garden for the community. Alta Vista Botanical Gardens shall harmoniously incorporate education, nature and art.
Alta Vista Gardens is in the early stages of development. As the gardens continue to develop, plant enthusiasts will be thrilled at the wide variety of rare, beautiful and remarkable plants showcased in the gardens. The gardens will also provide an interactive, living classroom for North San Diego County residents.
City officials want the garden to become a gathering place for the community, integrating art throughout the project. Visual art throughout the garden will include sculptures, walkways and walls created by some of the areas most talented artisans. The Ceremonial Garden will host several types of activities including, music and vocal recitals, lectures, poetry readings, wedding ceremonies and more.
Along the trail systems throughout the garden, will be multipurpose platforms, which will act as way-stations for visitors. These platforms eventually will play host to a multitude of events in the garden, such as fine art shows, culinary events, the performing arts, Tai Chi and yoga.
Alta Vista’s new Children’s Garden will be called “Bugs, Birds & Butterflies,” the name chosen in a contest for children in Spring 2009. The next event for children and families will be the free Fall Fun Festival on October 10 from1 to 4 p.m. featuring a Scarecrow Contest for children and adults. Event details can be found at altavistagardens.org.
