Purpose

Respond to complaints of possible code violations.
Educate the community on City standards and regulations for Citywide improvement and beautification.
Obtain and maintain compliance with all City code regulations.

Code Enforcement is a division of the City Manager's Department.

Animal Control - Coordinate animal control operations with the City’s animal control agency - San Diego Humane Society and SPCA; regulate numbers and types of animals allowed on individual property; and respond to animal nuisance complaints. Vista Animal Control Information
Graffiti Abatement - Identify and report locations containing graffiti; work with property owners for the prompt removal of graffiti; and coordinate with the sheriff's department to address graffiti vandalism.
Parking Enforcement - Enforce state and City parking regulations; remove abandoned and nuisance vehicles from the public right-of-way; and process all parking citations issued within the City and provide reviews of contested citations.
False Alarms - Obtain sheriff and fire department records for identifying false alarms; track all reported false alarms within the City; provide administrative review of contested false alarms; and levy fines for false alarm offenders.
Other Duties - Responsible for handling noise concerns; nuisance abatement; abandoned vehicle abatement; zoning enforcement; and property maintenance issues.
