Bob Campbell is a native Californian having been born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He studied economics and industrial engineering at Stanford University and received an Advanced Management degree from the University of Washington. Additionally, he served 8 years in the Coast Guard Reserve. Bob worked with newspaper publishers for 16 years before starting his own computer systems firm in 1979. In 1989 he was asked to lead the revitalization of the economy in Vista and served as Vista’s Economic Development Director for nearly 10 years - helping to bring over 500 companies and 15,000 jobs into the community. He then co-founded and was CEO of the North County Economic Development Council in 1998 before being elected to the Vista City Council in 2002. He also serves on numerous regional boards and commissions.

Bob and his wife Dee have three children who were all educated in Vista.
