Truck Transportation

There are more than 50 interstate and intrastate carriers with local terminals for overnight delivery. Numerous freight forwarders complement motor carrier service with overnight delivery available to California, Arizona and Nevada. United Parcel Service (UPS), Airborne Express and Federal Express operate terminals nearby.

Major Railway

The Santa Fe Railway handles freight services through and around San Diego County, including Vista. Amtrak provides passenger train service from San Diego to Los Angeles with stops at Del Mar, Oceanside, San Juan Capistrano, Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim and Fullerton. The Orange County line began serving passengers in 1994 from Oceanside with additional stops in San Clemente, Mission Viejo/Laguna Niguel, Tustin, Orange, Buena Park and Norwalk.

Commuter Railway

In March 2008, North County Transit District launched its newest addition, the east-west Sprinter light rail train system between Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido. The 22-mile long rail system runs east-west - along the Highway 78 corridor, serving 15 stations.

Coaster: Coast Express Rail (800) 262-7837

Coast Express Rail (Coaster) Service began in 1995. This commuter rail line provides weekday service between Oceanside and San Diego with stations in Oceanside, Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad Poinsettia, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Sorrento Valley, Old Town and San Diego.

The San Diego International Airport is located 37 miles south, John Wayne Airport in Irvine is 45 miles north, and the Los Angeles international Airport is 93 miles north. Each airport provides regularly scheduled passenger and freight service with all major airlines. The Palomar Airport and Oceanside Municipal airport handle general aviation and are located in close proximity to Vista. Only 5 minutes from the South Vista Business Park at Palomar Airport, American Eagle and United Express offer daily commuter service to Los Angeles and other regional airports.

Freight and passenger services are provided by Greyhound Bus Lines from a downtown depot. North County Transit District provides local services and over 3 million persons arrive or depart annually through the Transit Center in downtown Vista.

Service is provided Monday through Friday between the Vista Transit Center and the South Vista Business Park via Melrose Drive, Shadowridge Drive, Sycamore Avenue, La Mirada Drive, Poinsettia Avenue, Business Park Drive and Park Center Drive.

The Port of San Diego is 35 miles south of Vista. There are two marine terminals at this port: one located on 10th Avenue in San Diego and one located off 24th Street in National City. The 10th Avenue Terminal in San Diego manages general commodities and has the capability of handling general cargo as well as bulk cargo, and frozen and cold storage cargoes. The passenger cruise ships are accommodated at the "B" Street Terminal in San Diego.

There are two additional ports in Southern California: the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. Both are container ports, which handle large quantities of imported and exported high value cargo and are within 90 minutes of Vista. In addition, the Port of Ensenada, located in Ensenada, Mexico approximately 90 minutes south, accommodates both cargo and cruise vessels.
