Commission Recommends Change to Off-Leash Dog Ordinance
During the City of Vista Parks & Recreation Commission meeting on March 26 2018, the Commission recommended to expand the off-leash dog hours at South Buena Vista Park to all operating hours (currently, hours are only morning and evening) and to continue prohibiting dogs to be off-leash at Buena Vista Park. The Commission is recommending the City Council amend Vista Municipal Code 12.14.010 to reflect this change at South Buena Vista Park. This recommendation will be placed on the City Council's agenda on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

The new ordinance allowed for dogs to be off leash in the natural areas and on the trails in both parks from 7 am to 10 am and from 3 pm to dusk. The Vista City Council approved the amendment to the ordinance and requested staff bring the amendment back a year later to review. The ordinance went into effect on September 22, 2017.
