Vista Receives Award for Paseo Santa Fe Street Improvement Project
Circulate San Diego presented the Momentum “Complete Streets” Award to the City of Vista for its Paseo Santa Fe Street Improvement Project on Wednesday, October 25 during the 2017 Momentum Awards Gala in San Diego.
The Paseo Santa Fe Project has been recognized for its “transformation and positive impact on the community”. Circulate San Diego’s Momentum Awards recognizes visionary civic leaders, business leaders, and projects in the San Diego region that improve quality of life, connect communities, promote sustainable development, and create vibrant, healthy communities.
“We pride ourselves on our long-range vision to revitalize our downtown core,” says Judy Ritter, the Mayor of the City of Vista. “It is an honor to be recognized by Circulate San Diego for the work we have accomplished.”
The corridor along S. Santa Fe Avenue from Main Street to Civic Center Drive is known as the Paseo Santa Fe District. The first phase of the Street Improvement Project, which encompasses Main Street to Ocean View Drive, was completed in 2016. This next phase of street improvements continues the work to Terrace Drive where a second roundabout will be constructed. Through innovative planning, creative programs, and strong community partnerships, Vista is removing blight along the corridor and creating a more vibrant downtown.
